Helical Spring Set

The apparatus, consisting of a helical steel spring and weights of known mass totaling 1500 grams. An additional 100-gm. hooked weight is added for additional experimentation. The mechanism is used by students to investigate the conservation of energy when gravitational energy is changed to potential energy in a spring. Energy is observed to be conserved in this experiment to within 1 percent.
